Igniting Creativity: Using Multi-Media to Create Abstraction — The lecture includes a short history of technology used by the master’s, from Vermeer to Warhol to Wei Wei,and how you can use technologies both old and new to ignite your own creativity. Lyons will show a step by step progression of one of his more recent multi-media “new paintings” that includes photography, digital sketching and painting, acrylic paint and gold leaf.
Steve Lyons (American b. 1958) is most known for having invented his self-created “sculptural paintings.” This breakthrough technique has captured the attention of critics, collectors, artists and every day enthusiasts across the globe. While his style is based in Northern European Expressionism, Lyons’ signature work employs a contemporized impasto effect that creates a heightened dimensionality on the surface. In 2016, Lyons was named one of the TOP FIVE Abstract Expressionists in the world by The American Art Awards.
Steve is always “in action” at his working studio in the Steve Lyons Gallery in Chatham, Massachusetts. The studio/gallery is a place where people can come and experience creativity “live”; where they can come, watch, interact and be inspired to create themselves.
Lyons’s work has been exhibited in Germany, Poland and Mexico as well as several locations throughout the United States and is part of private collections across the globe.
