Doug Gillette has a BFA in Graphic Design and Illustration from Maryland Institute, College of Art and a Master’s Degree in Art Education from Towson University. Widely known for his silverpoint drawings, his paintings and drawings have earned numerous awards in national and regional shows throughout the eastern U.S. Doug is past president and current member of both the Academic Artist Association and the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts. In addition, he is an elected member of the Cape Cod Art Association, the North Shore Art Association and the New Haven Paint & Clay Club. He is a charter member of the Connecticut River Valley Artists in Somers, CT.
Doug teaches painting and drawing at the Springfield Museum in MA. He maintains a studio in his home in Enfield where he creates and sells artwork in traditional academic style. His work is in the permanent collections of the Bennington Center for the Arts, New Haven Paint & Clay Club, Evansville Museum of Fine Art and numerous private collectors.
